
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The Kansas Wesleyan Men's Golf team posted a fifth place finish at the Eagle Spring Invitational hosted by Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Monday and Tuesday at Hillcrest Country Club. The KWU B team posted a 10th place finish in the same event.
Troy Watson (SR/Coffeyville, Kan.) led the Coyotes with a fifth place finish, finishing the tournament with a score of 226, posting round scores of 76, 75 and 75. Trevor Watson (FR/Coffeyville, Kan.) finished 16th with a 233 (76-79-78), Logan Vacca (SR/Coffeyville, Kan.) (78-79-80) and Ethan Vikander (FR/Aberdeen, S.D.) (80-76-81) tied for 23rd with a 237, and Landon Berquist (FR/Lawrence, Kan.) tied for 34th with a 241 (79-78-84).
The Coyote B team was paced by Matthew Freriks (SO/Stinnett, Texas) (85-79-77) and Patrick Mercer (SR/Denton, Texas) (79-79-83), who tied for 34th with a score of 241. Austin Odom (SR/Sanger, Texas) tied for 47th with a 247 (82-79-86), Tyler Martin (FR/Phillipsburg, Kan.) tied for 55th with a 253 (83-84-86) and Cameron Becker (JR/Coffeyville, Kan.) was 65th with a 264 (89-83-92).
Iowa Western CC was the team champion with a score of 911, followed by Southwestern Christian with a 913. Oklahoma Wesleyan was third with a 925, Central Baptist was fourth with a 926, KWU was fifth with a 931, Dodge City CC was sixth with a 940, Southwestern was seventh with a 965, Doane was eighth with a 968, Bethany was ninth with a 977, KWU's B team was 10th with a 981, Sterling was 11th with a 993, Bethany's B team was 12th with a 1014, Oklahoma Wesleyan's B team was 13th with a 1038, and Bethel was 14th with a 1087.
There was a 3-way tie for first in the individual standings with a score of 222 between Southwestern Christian's Julian Alanis, Iowa Western's Jakob Falk, and Oklahoma Wesleyan's Nolan Pope.
The Coyotes are back in action next week for the CBC Invitational at the Country Club of Arkansas in Maumelle on Monday and Tuesday.
