
MITCHELL COUNTY —A Kansas man was injured in an accident during high-speed chase just before noon Sunday in Mitchell County.
According to a social media report from police in Beloit, Mitchell County Communications was notified of an erratic driver traveling westbound on Highway 24 through Beloit.
Soon after, a Beloit Police Officer located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle.
The vehicle failed to stop for law enforcement and a vehicle pursuit occurred. Officers with the Beloit Police Department and Deputies with the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office pursued the vehicle until the it crashed east of Cawker City.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered the driver Monte J. Jackson, 71, Glen Elder, was having a medical emergency and was unaware of what was happening. EMS transported Jackson to the Mitchell County Hospital.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported law enforcement was in pursuit of a 2013 Toyota Rav 4 driven by Monte J. Jackson, 71, Glen Elder, westbound on U.S. 24 one mile east of Cawker City with speeds of 80-90 miles per hour.
The driver lost control of the SUV as it crossed left of center and entered the south ditch lined with large drainage rock.
The Toyota rolled end over end and came to rest on the passenger side facing eastbound.
EMS transported Jackson to the Mitchell County Hospital. He was properly restrained, according to the KHP. Authorities did not report what prompted the chase.
