NORTH NEWTON – Kansas Wesleyan's competitive dance team competed in two competitions on Saturday as part of the Bethel Invitational at Bethel College.
KWU placed eighth out of 12 teams in the first competition, and was sixth out of nine teams in the second competition of the day.
KWU also finished eighth in the final overall standings of the event, which factored each team's best score of the day into the final standings.
In the first competition, Saint Ambrose was the winner with a score of 79.37, Baker was second with a score of 78.00, Midland was third with a 77.20, Oklahoma City was fourth with a 75.78, Hastings was fifth with a 67.23, Concordia (Neb.) was sixth with a 61.72, Bethel was seventh with a 55.37, KWU was eighth with a 53.38, McPherson was ninth with a 50.97, Bethany was 10th with a 48.10, Southwestern was 11th with a 46.47 and Saint Mary was 12th with a 43.47.
In the second competition of the day, the top two finishers were the same, but with higher scores. Saint Ambrose was first with an 81.22, Baker was second with an 80.55, Oklahoma City was third with a 79.12, Concordia was fourth with a 61.38, Bethel was fifth with a 54.88, KWU was sixth with a 51.93, McPherson was seventh with a 48.84, Southwestern was eighth with a 47.3 and Saint Mary was ninth with a 45.42.
Bethany, Hastings and Midland did not compete in the second competition.
Overall it was Saint Ambrose finishing in first, followed by Baker, Oklahoma City, Midland, Hastings, Concordia, Bethel, KWU, McPherson, Bethany, Southwestern and Saint Mary.
Up next for the Coyotes will be the KCAC Championships on February 18 at Bethel College.
