Ramona “Jean” Nelson, 88, of Marquette, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2023, surrounded by family at Harmony Home, McPherson.
She was a homemaker, Avon representative, school bus driver for USD 400, and CNA at Riverview Estates.
Jean was born on February 22, 1934, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Sten Paul and Ruth Agnes (Tate) Jader.
She graduated from Marquette High School in 1952.
Jean was united in marriage to Charles Junior “Chuck” Jimerson on April 6, 1951, in Marquette, KS. He died December 29, 1983. She married Donald Leroy Nelson on July 6, 1984, in Lindsborg, KS.
She was a member of Valley Community Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and Town & Country Club.
Survivors include her husband Don Nelson of Marquette, KS; children Randy Jimerson (Rosa) of Abilene, KS, Deryl Jimerson (Christy) of Council Grove, KS, and Paula Jean Best (Mike) of Marquette, KS; stepchildren Brenda Nelson of Hutchinson, KS and Shari Geren (Brad) of Windom, KS; eight grandchildren, Charles Jimerson, IV, Christine Hurt (Brandon), Joshua Jimerson, Jordan Tabares (Teeino), Mandy Kutina (Doug), Chad Jimerson, Braxton Best, and Bayle Jean Best; seven stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; son Marty Ray Jimerson; siblings Inez JoAnn Cannaday and Paul David Jader; daughter-in-law Charlene Jimerson; stepdaughter, Edie Gustus; grandson Michael Dean Jimerson; granddaughter Ruthie Jean Jimerson; and great-grandson Caeden Hurt.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2023, at Valley Community Church, Marquette, with Pastor Kenny Baumann officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. until service time, Friday, at the church. Burial will follow the service at the Marquette Cemetery.
