LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas junior shortstop Tyson LeBlanc has been named the Dick Howser Trophy Player of the Month for May, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced Thursday. LeBlanc becomes the first Kansas player in program history to earn the National Hitter of the Month honor.
LeBlanc hit .382 for the month, with 26 hits and 15 runs scored while helping Kansas clinch a Big 12 Regular Season Championship, win a Big 12 Tournament Championship and claim the first ever Lawrence Regional Championship. He had six doubles and eight home runs with 20 RBI, while drawing 11 walks which led to an on-base percentage of .468. LeBlanc also had two stolen bases and a slugging percentage of .824 during the month.
Led by LeBlanc, Kansas has won six straight games and eight of its last nine. His month has helped Kansas advance to Super Regionals for the first time in program history. LeBlanc carries an 11-game hitting streak into this weekend's Lawrence Super Regional.
From Maurice, Louisiana, LeBlanc is one of three players to appear in all 61 games this season, LeBlanc was named an All-Big 12 First Team selection and has followed that with Most Outstanding Player selections for both the Big 12 Tournament and the Lawrence Regional. LeBlanc broke KU's single season home run record during the Lawrence Regional and enters the Lawrence Super Regional with 24 homers, while also leading the team with a .344 batting average, 63 runs scored, 85 hits and 68 RBIs.
A Dick Howser Trophy Semifinalist, LeBlanc was previously named the NCBWA National Hitter of the Week on April 7, becoming the fifth player in school history to earn that honor, and the first since Jackson Hauge last season. LeBlanc was also named the Big 12 Player of the Week on April 6 and earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week awards on March 30 and April 6.
Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. The 2026 season marks the 11th consecutive year that the NCBWA has honored a national hitter and national pitcher of the month.
