By SALINA POST
Salina’s downtown area has seen quite a bit over the years: from brothels to churches, gunfights to car chases, and even an ax wielding woman!

Join John Burchill as he discusses stories from downtown Salina's past during the Smoky Hill Museum's First Thursday program. Burchill is scheduled to introduce those attending to characters, criminals, movers and shakers; the brave and the not-so-brave; the up-and-coming as well as the down-and-out.
Burchill is an author and an associate professor of criminal justice at Kansas Wesleyan University.
The presentation is scheduled for 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday. Because seating will be limited in the lobby of the museum, 211 W. Iron Avenue, there also will be an overflow seating area in the community room on the second floor of the museum.
Additionally, the presentation will be available via Zoom. To register for the Zoom presentation, go to smokyhillmuseum.org.
If you attend the presentation in person, be sure to check out the museum's latest exhibit, The Crossroads, which focuses on downtown Salina. According to the museum, the exhibit will not be open for much longer.
