Marie’s life began on August 12, 1925, in Vona, CO. She was the daughter of Henry and Dora Zubrod. She graduated from high school from St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School in Stratton, CO.
Very early in life, Marie worked as a telephone switchboard operator before she was united in marriage to Daniel Navrat on September 22, 1947, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Stratton.
Marie was a faithful parishioner of the Holy Family Parish in Marion. She volunteered teaching second grade catechism at the church preparing children for first communion. Marie led the weekly rosary prayers for many years before Mass and enjoyed Altar Society. She worked in the church kitchen preparing funeral dinners and always had a smile on her face.
Marie served her community as a member of the election board for several years and she was an avid quilter.
Her greatest joy was her family which includes her children Donna (Robert) Cherry of Kingman, Ron (Deb) Navrat of McPherson, Daniel J. (Lisa) Navrat of Walton, Patricia Navrat of McPherson, and Machelle (Mike) Ratzloff of Marion; grandchildren Gary (Yolanda) Keen, Jessica Wells, Anjanette Montano, Melissa Chavez, Jason ( Celide) Navrat, Amber (Matt) Powers, Ashley ( Jonathan Graham) Ratzloff and Samantha ( Jordan Simmonds) Ratzloff; 14 great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren.
Marie passed away on Thursday, July 22 at St. Luke’s Living Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and two brothers.
Her family will gather with friends on Friday, July 30 at 10 a.m. for visitation, 10:30 a.m. for rosary and 11 a.m. for her Mass of Christian Burial all at Holy Family Parish, 415 N. Cedar St. Marion. She will be laid to rest in Pilsen Cemetery following the Mass.
Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Holy Family Parish, St. Mark’s Altar Society or Good Shepherd Hospice in care of Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion.
