Jared Thomas Herpich Vaughn
March 24, 1986 ~ June 19, 2024

Jared’s life began on March 24, 1986, in Herington, KS. He was the son of Thomas Vaughn and Lori (Herpich) Hughes. Jared attended Herington High School before entering the United States Army. He served his country as an Army Medic attached to the 1-10 Calvary. Jared’s loving family includes his mother Lori (Art) Hughes of Wichita, daughter Lilith Vaughn of Colorado, and sisters Whitney (Jerod) Larson of Inman and Hayley (Tony) Ferris of Kansas City, and brother, Clayton (Erin) Hughes of Wichita. As well as many uncles, aunts and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father Thomas Vaughn, grandparents, Donald Herpich, Shirley and Lester Harmon and uncle, Gene Herpich.

Jared loved the outdoors, nature and science. As a young boy he loved the water and enjoyed wakeboarding with family and friends. He was an avid skateboarder and ski boarder. Jared and his dad went hunting and fishing on a regular basis as he was growing up, including a fishing trip to Alaska. This followed Jared through his adult life, he loved to fish any spot he could throw in a line. His biggest love in life was his daughter Lily. He cherished every moment he had with her, making art projects, reading together, planting flowers or having a day doing anything Lily requested.

 Jared died unexpectedly on Wednesday June 19, 2024, in Collbran, CO. His family will gather with friends on Saturday July 27, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington for his graveside memorial service, all are welcome to attend.
