Christ Cathedral will have a Blessing of the Animals Sunday.
The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Christ Cathedral, 138 S. Eighth Street. The event is being held in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment.
Pets of all faiths are welcome, according to information from the church.
Additionally, the church issued a message to the animals to be blessed. It is as follows.
Your service will be held in the fenced Memorial Garden of Christ Cathedral. Your people may park in the lot on 9th Street, or on 8th St. If your human has been socialized and has clean up supplies with them, you may walk them on a leash to visit the other animals before the service. Attendants will pass out a printed booklet to follow during the service. A Clergy member will bless you and your family. Photos will be blessed as well. After you are blessed, you will receive a goodie bag to take home.
