Douglas “Nate” Garrett, age 64, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at his home in rural Clyde, KS. He was born on January 22, 1957 in Wichita, KS to John Fox and Patricia Rightmire. He was later adopted by Calvin and Sally Garrett.
He graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in Portland, OR. He served in the U.S. Navy on a nuclear submarine during the Korean War. He got his CDL in California was a long distance hauler for Central Refrigeration Systems.
He married Joy M. Novak on July 3, 2000, in Illinois.
Nate’s passion was being an Abe Lincoln impersonator for various re-enactments, shows and a myriad of other engagements.
He is survived by his wife Joy, Clyde; sister Viola; three brothers, Dan, Scott and John and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
It was Nate’s wishes to be cremated and the family will hold a memorial service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at a later date.
The family requests memorials to the family to assist with expenses in care of the funeral home.
