To many teams, the opening round of regionals presents an opportunity for a letdown and the potential to find oneself in a dreaded trap game.
No such thing would happen in Gypsum today, as the Southeast of Saline softball team dismantled Herington 16-0, scoring all of their runs in the bottom of the first inning.

The stats for this game read like an autopsy. SES scored 16 runs on 12 hits, committed zero errors and didnāt allow a single runner to reach base.
The latter part of that achievement came courtesy of Hannah Thiel, who faced nine batters and recorded nine outs, striking out seven.
At the plate, 14 different Lady Trojans grabbed a bat, with eight of them recording a hit.
Reese Heinrich posted the best day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with 4 RBI accounting for more than a third of Southeastās runs driven in on the day.
With this win, Southeast improves to 22-1 while Heringtonās season comes to a close at 2-23.
The Lady Trojans advance to the semifinal round on Thursday, where they await the winner of Hesston (15-10), and Council Grove (14-11).
