The new Saline County Jail, 800 E. Pacific Avenue, is hosting opportunities for public tours, staff training, and exercise of building systems, and inmates are anticipated to be housed in the new jail by early December.
One of the first opportunities for the public to get a feel for the new facility is "Slumber in the Slammer," which will be held on Friday, November 3.
Experience life as an inmate complete with dinner served, cell extraction, DEMO by the SORT team, and equipment demonstrations.
Registration is open until Oct. 1. Registration forms are available at the Saline County Sheriff's Office, 251 N. 10th Street.
As noted on the flyer, occupancy is limited to 120 participants. All minors must accompanied by a parent or guardian of the same gender.
