Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid Quotes
January 24, 2025
OPENING STATEMENT: “Alright, no injuries to report. Again, (we) look forward to the challenge of playing the Bills. (They’re a) heck of a football team, well-coached and (they have) great players. (The) time’s yours.”
Q: What is your final message to the players before kickoff?
REID: “Just be themselves. Go play (and) be themselves.”
Q: Will we see Joe Thuney again at left tackle or is it possible that D.J. Humphries plays?
REID: “Look, we’ve been rotating them (Joe Thuney and D.J. Humphries) again, which we do at practice, but it’ll probably end up being the same, yeah.”
Q: Does this game feel any different for you?
REID: “That’s a loaded question because it feels different than a regular game because of you know you’re in the (AFC) Championship Game, but at the same time, we try to keep things as consistent as you can with all the extra this (the media). No, you understand that there are two teams in the AFC and two teams in the NFC playing and that’s it.”
Q: Has it been a normal week for the players?
REID: “Yeah, normal week.”
Q: How different is the mood in the locker room from 2018?
REID: “Listen, they (the players) – you’d have to ask them. It’s all – they’ve all reacted the same way. They’ve come out and they’ve practiced hard and tried to get themselves ready the best they can. I haven’t noticed a big difference other than they know what the schedule is and they go with it.”
Q: Were there more nerves six years ago?
REID: “Yeah, well I guess I’m not sure how to quantify that. I didn’t get in there and look at that part of it. I mean, the guys, they’d probably all be different on how you’d weigh that out.”
Q: Do the other coaches feel the pressure at this point?
REID: “I don’t know if it’s the pressure, I think it’s just you’re excited to get going, just like the players will be excited to get going, you’re excited to get going. It’s great competition when you get to this level and that’s why you’re in the business. You know, best against the best.”
Q: What do you think is the biggest thing that Mike Caliendo gathered from his first playoff start?
