MITCHELL COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before noon Thursday in Mitchell County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2003 Chrysler Town & Country driven by Austin Cearyn Jablonski, 17, Lincoln, was eastbound on Kansas 14 just south of V Road.
The driver lost control of the van. It crossed the center line into the westbound lane. A westbound 2021 Kenworth semi driven by Trey Isaac Mosier, 29, Ellinwood, struck the van and entered the north ditch. Both vehicles caught on fire.
Jablonski was pronounced dead at the scene and transported Roberts Funeral Home. Mosier was not injured. The KHP did not report seat belt usage details.
