A man was arrested after an alleged assault on a woman inside a West Salina home.
According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on Saturday, September 6 in the evening, a man allegedly assaulted a woman inside a home on the 1600 block of Sycamore.
Reportedly, a 29-year old woman and a 23-year old man identified as, Jhobani Torres-Simental got into an argument at the home. Allegedly, Torres-Simental forcibly grabbed the victim's phone, took it outside the house and broke it. The victim then tried to leave the home, but Torres-Simental 'grabbed and put her in a chokehold.'
The victim was able to get away from the chokehold, but as she got away, Torres-Simental 'tripped her' which caused the woman to fall. The victim suffered a cut above her right eyebrow from the fall.
Afterwards, the victim was able leave to a neighbor's house where she called SPD. When officers arrived to the scene, they discovered Torres-Simental inside the home where the alleged assault happened. He was then taken into custody without incident and was booked into the Saline County Jail on the following requested charges:
Robbery, Criminal Damage to Property and Domestic Battery.
SPD stated Torres-Simental and the victim are acquainted.
