Agenda items
Commissioners are scheduled to consider awarding a bid for livestock and expo center signage at Greeley Avenue and siding for Barns 3, 5 and 6 to Ponton Construction in the amount of $269,732.97.
Additionally, commissioners are scheduled to consider whether to modify corrections hiring and retention incentives for the sheriff's office.
"On August 9, 2022, Commissioners were presented RFA #175-22, a hiring and retention incentive, specific for Corrections Staff, to recommend incentives to help reduce the hiring and retention challenges we are facing in the Corrections Division of the Sheriff’s Office. On September 6, 2022, Commissioners expressed additional concerns about the payment schedules of such incentives and asked staff to present alternative options," staff noted in commission meeting packet information.
Staff is recommending that commissioners approve temporarily increasing the hiring incentive to $5,000 and provide a $5,000 retention incentive for all current jail staff. The incentive would be paid out at intervals approved by the commissioners.
Commissioners also are scheduled to hear a monthly update about the Saline County Jail construction project.
