
Donald K Baker, 73, died Sunday August 23rd at Salina Regional Health Center Salina Kansas. Mr. Baker was born February 21st, 1947 at Wichita KS, the son of Clayton and Thelma Whitney, adopted by Charlotte and Wayland Baker.
Don was raised in Winfield Kansas, after graduating high school he joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1965 to 1969 aboard the USS Pocono. After leaving the service he went to Central Business College in Wichita, KS where he met his wife Linda Kay (Packer) Baker, they were married in 1972.
He worked as a licensed electrician in Clay Center until his retirement in 2015. During his free time, he served as a leader for Cub Scout Pack 55, Boy Scout Troop 54, Explorer Post 56 and was a member of The Order Of the Arrow. During his time in scouting he served as his son’s Den leader, Scout Master, District Commissioner and as a committee member. He also received many district honors including Distinguished Commissioner, the District Award of Merit, Scout Family of the Year and the Vigil Honor through the Order of the Arrow. He was also a member of the Standing Bear Gourd Society and Shawnee County Allied Tribes. He also was a member of the Clay Center Masonic Lodge where he served as Junior Decon and earned the Daniel Carter Beard award.
He is survived by his wife Linda, 3 children and their spouses Jennifier and Jim Myers of Oconto NE, Sean and Rhys Baker and April and Daniel Davis of Clay Center, Kansas, 8 Grandchildren, Abigail, Rebecca, Scouten, Isabelle, Conner, Whitney, Lilly and Evelyn and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Friday, August 28, 2020 from 5-7 PM with Rosary to be held at 7:00 at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center, Kansas
Services: 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 29, 2020 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center, Kansas
Burial: SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas
