Hinz named KCAC Defensive Player of the Year; Hill also honored

After setting countless school and conference records for blocks, Kansas Wesleyan's Kelcey Hinz (SR/Whitewater, Kan.) was named as the KCAC Defensive Player of the Year headlining KWU's Women's Basketball All-KCAC selections announced by the conference office.

Hinz led the KCAC in blocks and blocks per game, and currently leads the NAIA in both categories. This season, Hinz also set a new KWU and KCAC record for single game blocks, recording 11 against Ottawa on November 27. Hinz also owns the top three single season block performances in school history, highlighted by 124 so far this season, and the career blocks record.

She also became KWU's all-time leading rebounder on January 14 against York, and currently has 973 career rebounds.

Her outstanding defensive efforts, along with averaging a double-double of 12.9 points and 10.7 rebounds per game during conference play, earned her First Team All-KCAC honors and a spot on the All-KCAC Defensive team.

Amanda Hill (SR/Rossville, Kan.) was named to the All-KCAC Second Team. The senior ranked seventh in the KCAC in scoring during conference play, averaging 15.3 points per game, and was seventh in rebounding, averaging 8.0 rebounds per game.

Hill became Kansas Wesleyan's all-time leading scorer on January 22 at Ottawa, passing a 35-year-old record. Hill has also set new KWU records for career field goals made currently at 657, field goals attempted currently at 1528, and games played currently at 150. She is currently nine rebounds away from moving into the No. 2 all-time position in career rebounds.
