Ilo A. Oakley, Lawrence

Ilo Arlene Oakley was born March 28, 1924, the daughter of G. Cleveland and Edna E. Wise on a farm north of Cawker City, Kansas. She died Thursday, January 3, 2022 at her home in Lawrence, Kansas at the age of 97.
She attended Cawker City Schools, graduating from Beloit High School in 1942, where she took Normal Training to teach. She taught four terms, one in rural Jewell County, and three in Mitchell County, the last term at Glen Elder Grade School in 1945.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cawker City, where she was united in marriage with Keith D. Oakley of Asherville on November 19, 1945. To this union they were blessed with two sons, Dennis K. Oakley and Steven D. Oakley. She was a homemaker and a partner in business ventures with Keith and son Dennis.
Survivors are her son Dennis of Lawrence and granddaughter Stephanie and husband Eric Friesen of Colorado, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Keith; son Steven; three sisters, Mildred Slaven, Dorothy Brummer, and Margaret Wells; and her brother Eugene Wise.
Private graveside services will take place at Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cawker City. There will be no visitation.
