TOKYO - The final day of track cycling featured one race from Team USA at the Izu Velodrome. Two of the three riders on the U.S.’s lone sprint team entered the race as the 2020 world championship bronze medalists in the event.

Joe Berenyi (Aurora, Illinois) and Chris Murphy (Rancho Cucamonga, California) looked to use their experience in the sprint to earn Team USA a medal but finished in the middle of the pack. Aaron Keith (Woodinville, Washington), who typically does not race this event, was the third rider in the trio. The Americans finished in sixth place, earning a time of 52.051, and finishing four seconds behind China who took home the gold with a world record time of 48.051.
