MINNEAPOLIS - Native Plants to Support Native Bees will be the topic of a free presentation by Horticulture Extension Agent Jason Graves on Monday.

The presentation is scheduled for 6 p.m. March 20 in the meeting room of the Ottawa County Courthouse, 307 N. Concord in Minneapolis. Reserve a chair online at www.centralkansas.ksu.edu or by calling the Minneapolis Extension Office at 785-392-2147. If you have special requirements due to a physical, vision, or hearing disability, contact Graves at 785-309-5850.

According to information from Graves, there are more than 4,000 species of native and solitary bees in the United States. These pollinators directly connect to human health and well-being, and deserve to be understood, appreciated, and preserved, he noted. This training will explore native bees and how gardeners can utilize native plants to create a welcoming habitat for these essential pollinators.
