OKLAHOMA CITY – Kansas Wesleyan Softball wrapped up play in the 2022 Red Dirt Classic at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium on Saturday with games against No. 4 ranked Oklahoma City and NCAA Division I Grambling State.
Wesleyan was in the game with the fourth-ranked Stars through five innings when OCU scored six runs in the sixth inning. KWU trailed 5-0 through five innings.
Grambling State scored four runs in the top of the first, and added two more in the second and third innings, but the Coyotes remained resilient in the game.
A pair of sacrifice flies by Samantha Herrera (FR/Lake Jackson, Texas) and Jewell Henry (SO/Kingston, Okla.) got the Coyotes on the board in the bottom of the second inning.
Three difference players had hits for the Coyotes in the second game.
KWU is headed to Tucson, Arizona for the Tucson Invitational this week. KWU plays five games in five days before opening KCAC play on March 19 at Friends.
