A man is accused of burglarizing 8-12 vehicles in a Salina neighborhood.

According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on July 19 just after 8:30 am, officers were dispatched a southeast Salina neighborhood near Ohio Street, for the report of multiple vehicle burglaries.

SPD stated this crime occurred between 2:30 and 3:00 am on Sunday, when 8-12 vehicles were reportedly broken into.

Stolen from one of the vehicles was a handgun, which was unsecured according to SPD.

At around 4:45 am, an incident occurred in the area where several parked vehicles were struck. It was determined the suspect was operating a Buick Regal, which was one of the stolen vehicles when the incident occurred.

Officers found the vehicle to be unoccupied upon their arrival.

Then at about 3:20 pm that same day, the suspect identified as Andrew Pruett (43) was located walking in a north-central Salina area. Pruett matched the subject who was displayed on surveillance footage, according to SPD.

Authorities arrested Pruett and booked him into the Saline County Jail for three requested charges of Vehicle Burglary, as more charges are pending.

SPD is reminding people to ensure your vehicles and firearms are secured.
