Speed was a contributing factor in a one-vehicle accident that injured three young people early Saturday morning.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning that a 2001 Toyota Camry, driven by a 16-year-old male, was northbound in the west parking lot of the Central Mall, 2259 South Ninth Street, at a high rate of speed. The Camry failed to negotiate a curve, struck the curb of the sidewalk on the east side of the traffic way, and then struck a pillar support of the overhang, Forrester explained. The accident occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. Saturday.
The driver and two passengers, an 11-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl, were all transported to Salina Regional Health Center, Forrester noted.
The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
According to Forrester, the crash is still under investigation and no citations or charges have been filed at this time.
