John F. Hoffman
July 19th, 1940 ~ January 26, 2024

John F. Hoffman, age 83, of Abilene passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 at his home in Abilene. He was born July 19, 1940 near Abilene the son of Wilson and Deana (Townsend) Hoffman.

While in high school John played football, basketball, baseball, and ran track. Following high school, John received his bachelor’s degree in history and taught history and was a coach at the McPherson High School for many years until retiring. Following his retirement he worked for Harbin Construction.

In December of 1998 he was united in marriage to Janet Long Nolan. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his daughter Tammy Hoffman, Lea Regan, Erin, son Yale Hoffman and his wife Tawny, step sons Jay Nolan and Jason Nolan, and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Keith and Donald Hoffman, sister Darlene Schlesener and his parents.

The family has selected cremation. Services for John will be 2:00 pm Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home with Pastor Lindsey Brummer officiating. His final resting place will be in the New Basil Cemetery. Friends may sign the register book until service time Thursday.
