The Southeast of Saline Lady Trojans collected their sixth straight win tonight in 55-30 fashion over the Beloit Lady Trojans.
With this win SES is 11-5 and owners of the series sweep over Beloit while the Lady Trojans in orange fall to 2-8 on the season.
Once again Southeast played a near flawless defensive game, holding Beloit to just one made field goal in the entire first half and taking a 30-6 lead into the break.
“It was nice to see everyone get involved tonight,” SES head coach Shauna Smith said. “We knew that we should have gotten a win tonight but we wanted to work on some things because we know that we’re going to have a tough task on Friday.”
No one player from Beloit reached double digits tonight, including center Porche Cooper, who led the way with just seven.
Offensively the Lady Trojans put together one of their best efforts of the year, led by 20 points from Karsyn Schlesener, 12 from Lexi Jacobson and a new career high 10 from Brielle Ptacek.
“We haven’t shot the ball well so we needed to get after those easy buckets to get our girls going,” she said. “You could tell that we were more relaxed tonight.”
SES also came out ahead on turnovers, surrendering the ball just nine times while forcing beloit into 20 throughout the game.
The Lady Trojans will look to make it seven straight when they travel to 7-9 Minneapolis on Friday.
