The Southeast of Saline Trojans boys basketball team (8-6) will look for the season sweep of the Beloit Trojans (4-8) tonight at 7:30.

SES has won seven of their last nine games while Beloit comes in having lost four of their last six.

The Trojans are also coming off of a nice rebound game against Chapman following a tough loss to Sacred Heart earlier in the week.

“I thought we did a good job of bouncing back,” SES head coach Bryson Flax said. “There were still some flaws in that Chapman game but credit to them, they hit shots when they needed to to stay in it. I was proud of our guys for coming together and closing it out.”

SES took the first game between these two in commanding fashion, beating Beloit 68-31 at Beloit High School, but Southeast isn’t putting too much stock into that win.

“That was Beloits first game so they had some first game jitters,” Flax said. “I like the way that we pressured them and pushed the basketball but they’re a much different team now”

Beloit is led by a pair of juniors in Owen Eilert and Caleb Burks, who each average 13 points per game.

“They’re in a zone a little bit more which creates challenges with pace,” he said. “They’re shooting a lot more and much better from deep. They’re really young and they're going through some lumps right now but I like their roster.”

For Southeast, the key tonight will continue to be controlling the tempo and making Beloit play SES’ game.

“We’re going to have to speed them up and make them uncomfortable offensively,” he said. “Then we’re going to have to take care of the ball in transition and find a way to beat that zone.”

Tip off for the boys game will immediately follow the girls at 6pm from Southeast of Saline High School. As always, Eagle Radio is the home for Trojan basketball and games can be heard on KINA (910 AM or 107.5 FM).
