Following a 59-40 win over Ell-Saline, the Sacred Heart boys basketball team will travel to Belleville to take on Wabaunsee in the sub-state semifinal.

The Knights and Chargers will both come into this contest at 16-5 with Wabaunsee fresh off a 53-40 victory over Valley Heights.

This will be the first meeting between the two schools in the last two decades thanks to reclassification and sub-state realignments.

These two teams ended their regular seasons on different notes as the Chargers won four of their last five while Sacred Heart dropped two of their last three to Beloit and Republic County, falling out of the Class 2A rankings in the final week.

Tip-off between the Knights and Chargers is set for 6:00 pm on Friday at Republic County High School in Belleville.

The winner will advance to the sub-state final to take on either 17-3 St. Mary’s or 13-8 Bennington.
