The Southeast of Saline Lady Trojans 2020-21 campaign came to a close tonight in a heartbreaking 49-39 loss at the hands of the Hesston Lady Swathers.

SES will finish its season at 15-7 while Hesston advances to the tournament final to take on Halstead, who defeated Haven tonight 37-27.

The Lady Trojans were led in scoring by Karsyn Schlesener and Maddie Harris, who put up 13 and 12 points in the loss.

Hesston was anchored by a 17 point night from Anna Humphreys and a 15 point performance by Katie Kueker.

At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Swathers had SES close to doubled up with a 13-7 lead.

Southeast chipped away at that lead with a three at the buzzer to close out the half, and a big push early in the fourth to cut the lead to six, but Hesston pulled away late to survive and advance.

While the loss stings for the Lady Trojans, the future has never been brighter for SES, who will lose a grand total of zero seniors between this season and next.

2020-21 saw the continued brilliance of Karsyn Schlesener, Alaina Yianakopulos and Mallorie Pearson, the emergence of young stars like Maddie Harris, Brielle Ptacek, Avery Caselman and Lexi Jacobson, and countless others who assembled a young corps that will be ready to run it back in 2021-22.

The SES Trojans will be up next with an 8pm tip against the Hesston boys team in tomorrow's semi final.
