**UPDATE** Salina Police officers make arrest following vehicle pursuit

Law enforcement authorities made an arrest following a high-speed pursuit that occurred in south-central Salina on Monday.  

Salina Police Sergeant Tonniges told Salina Post this morning, on Monday at approximately 2:49 p.m. an officer observed a gray 2010 Mercury Milan pass his patrol car at an excessive speed while heading southbound in the 400 block of South Ohio. Officers were able to clock the vehicle's speed at 76 mph. The speed limit for that section of Ohio Street is 40 mph.  

During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle veered into the left turn lane at the intersection of Ohio Street and Crawford Street and went through both southbound lanes and the center turn lane on Ohio Street. 

"The vehicle eventually turned westbound on Magnolia Road and then came to a stop near the intersection of Magnolia Road and Aurora Avenue," Tonniges said.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Bernard Baker, 72, Salina.  

Salina Police officers arrested Baker with the following requested charges: 

Felony flee and elude 

Speeding

Shortly before 3 p.m. Monday, Salina Police Officers pursued a vehicle through parts of south-central Salina.

Salina Police Sergeant Tonniges told Salina Post the vehicle has been stopped and spike strips were not used.

Tonniges said two units began pursuing the fleeing vehicle at the intersection of Mellinger Drive and Ohio Street. The vehicle traveled southbound before turning west on Magnolia Road.
