February 21, 1924 - January 16, 2023
Kenneth Greene of Tescott died January 16, 2023. He was born on February 21, 1924, the youngest child of Arthur and Alice Matilda (Stirn) Greene and lived nearly all his life on the farm that was homesteaded by his grandparents.
Ken attended Lone Star country school and Tescott High School.
He married Muriel Peterson, his High School sweetheart, while on leave from the Navy; they were married for 74 years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
Ken was a farmer, and although he retired from farming to operate a photography business, he remained interested in farming until the end of his life. He e-mailed his daughter a weather report every day, and it usually said, “The sun is shining, and it looks like a nice day.”
Ken and his wife took wedding and group photos for many families in Tescott and the surrounding area for over 50 years. His photos have also appeared in the Salina Journal, Grass and Grain, on the covers of cookbooks and phone books, on calendars, on theater and restaurant walls, and in Of Floods and Flowers, a history of Tescott that Muriel wrote.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Delbert; his sister Thyra; and his wife Muriel.
He is survived by his daughter Marcia and son Marion.
A service to celebrate the life of Kenneth Greene will be announced later.
Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 966 N. Highway 14, Lincoln, KS 67455.
