Eleanor Marie Kennedy, 93, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 11:45 p.m., Monday, December 20th, 2021 at the Cedars House.
Eleanor was born in McPherson, Kansas on July 25, 1928, a daughter of Nellie A. (Bentson) and C. Elmer Erickson.
Eleanor attended McPherson grammar school and High School in McPherson County, Kansas.
Eleanor M. Erickson was united in marriage to Cleo Leon "Bill" Kennedy on November 19, 1950 at McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, Colleen, Mark, Jolene, and Scott.
She was a member of New Gottland Lutheran Church McPherson, Kansas where she was a member of the church council having served as President, a member of the ladies circle and served in many other capacities.
She was a Secretary at Associated Colleges of Central Kansas for 24 years. Eleanor was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, doing genealogy studies, playing the piano and stamp collecting.
She is survived by her children, Colleen Bruce and husband Danny of Galva, Kansas, Mark Kennedy of McPherson, Kansas, Jolene Kennedy of Dexter, Missouri, Scott Kennedy of McPherson, Kansas; her sister, Lois Winter of Marion, Kansas; her four granddaughters, Cassie Alumbaugh and husband Brent, Cayla Bunk and husband Travis, Jenny Hutson and husband Kelly, and Stephanie Kennedy; her 11 great-grandchildren, Ian Alumbaugh, Kati Alumbaugh, Kennedy Bunk, Evie Bunk, Millie Bunk, Rynnie Bunk, Makenize Hutson, Ella Hutson, Ava Hutson, Damin Kennedy and Bill Kennedy; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Clinton, Carl, and LeRoy Erickson; and her husband Bill.
Visitation will be held 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Monday, December 27th 2021 at Glidden - Ediger Chapel in McPherson, Kansas.
Graveside service will be held 3:00 pm on Monday, December 27th 2021 at New Gottland Lutheran Church Cemetery rural McPherson, Kansas with Pastor Laura Smith officiating.
