Janet Leigh Sauber, 59, of Assaria, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 18th, 2023.
Janet was born in Winchester, Kansas on February 18, 1964, a daughter of Etta Mae (Jacobs) Matthias, of Rural Horton, Kansas, and Larry Carl Matthias.
She was the wife of Keith Edward Sauber. They met going to school at K-State. After dating for 5 years, they married in June of 1989 and celebrated 34 years of marriage.
Janet dedicated many years to supporting her children through 4-H, sports, and many activities at Southeast of Saline. She loved her family, being in nature, and spending time gardening. Janet was an avid reader and a long-time member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. She worked over 20 years in USD 305 and especially enjoyed her years as the library media specialist at Salina South Middle School.
Her goal was always to help people be the best they can be - she always said that raising her children was one of her proudest accomplishments.
She is preceded in death by father, Larry Carl Matthias.
Survivors include her loving husband, Keith; two children, Jena (Shane) Schoenhofer and Cole (Amber) Sauber; two grandchildren, Jaden Schoenhofer-Jenkins, and Ellie Schoenhofer-Jenkins; mother, Etta Mae Matthias; four siblings, Darrin (Amy) Matthias, Debbie (Stan) Selland, Tim (Janet) Matthias, and Tod Matthias (Kelly Bryant). She is also survived by many friends, nieces and nephews, coworkers, and extended family members.
A visitation with family will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Salina from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 4th.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held immediately following at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 4 at the church.
Memorials may be made to the USD 305 Salina South Middle School Library or St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina.
