Requested charges on vehicle thieves are pending, after it was stolen from Salina and recovered in McPherson County
According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) at around 6:30 on Monday morning, officers were dispatched to the Hilton Garden Inn (3320 S 9th St) for the report of a stolen vehicle.
Reportedly, the victim of the vehicle left their 2009 Chevy Silverado pickup unattended while warming it up.
Later that same day, the McPherson County Sheriff's Office located and recovered the stolen Silverado. SPD stated there was two adults and a juvenile occupying the vehicle.
No requested charges or identification of the suspects have been made at this time, due to which county they will be arrested in.
SPD would like to remind everyone to warm up your vehicles with a remote-start system and without a key in the ignition.
Additionally, a firearm was located inside the vehicle and SPD would like to remind everyone to not leave a firearm unsecured inside your vehicles.
Firearms are commonly stolen from vehicles during hunting season as well.
