CONCORDIA -- A day after being named USTFCCCA NJCAA National Runners of the week, Cloud County Community College sophomore cross country runners Habtamu Geta and Patricia Koma have been named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Runners of the Week.
The awards mark the third KJCCC Runner of the Week honor for Geta this season while Koma earns her second conference Runner of the Week Accolade as both lead the T-Birds individually at the Tabor College Cottonwood Challenge last Saturday. Koma would win her second race of the season by posting a time of 19:32.60, nearly 14 seconds better than her closest competitor while Geta would take second in the men's 8K race and finish as the top collegiate finisher with a time of 25:02.90. The CCCC men would finish with a team runner-up finish while the women earned their third-straight team championship.
Cloud County has now had at least one KJCCC Runner of the Week in three of the first four weeks of the season during the 2020 campaign, with the lone week that a T-Bird runner was not named Runner of the Week coming during an off week for CCCC.
