Two people reportedly missing, one person recovered at Kanopolis Lake

ELLSWORTH COUNTY - Two people have reportedly gone missing and one person was recovered at Kanopolis Lake in Ellsworth County.

According to Ellsworth County Sheriff Kenny Bernard, at around 7:15-7:30 pm on Thursday, Ellsworth County dispatch reported of three people who went missing after being on a boat at Kanopolis Lake.

A 14-year old girl was recovered by an individual in the area and was medically transferred.

However according to Sheriff Kenny, a 40-year old man and a 14-year old girl are the two who are still reportedly missing.

Sheriff Bernard stated that multiple agencies such as, Rice County Sheriff's Office, Ellsworth County Sheriff's Office, Marquette County Sheriff's Office, Marquette Fire Department, Ellsworth Fire Department and Law Enforcement Dive Teams from Salina and the Kansas Game Wardens are currently investigating the scene.

Sheila Watkins a resident of Salina who was at the scene after the report, commented on how she feels about the ongoing investigation.

"It is scary and sad," said Watkins. "I am hoping for the best possible scenario and I am just praying for the families."
