T-Birds' McGinnis, Cox named All-KJCCC East Division selections

CONCORDIA -- Cloud County Community College women's basketball players Le'Yanna McGinnis and Rori Cox have been named All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference East Division selections for their performances throughout the 2020-21 basketball season. 

McGinnis would be named First-Team All-KJCCC East while Cox would earn Honorable-Mention All-KJCCC East honors as 17 total players would make up the All-KJCCC East First-Team, Second-Team, and Honorable Mention selections. 

Leading the KJCCC in points per game this season at 21.3 points per contest, McGinnis would also rank fourth in rebounding at 9.4 rebounds per contest and fifth in field goal percentage with a 48.0 field goal percentage for the year. The points per game mark would rank sixth among all NJCAA Division I women's basketball players while her season total of 448 points would rank fifth among players at the NJCAA Division I level. Appearing in and starting 21 of CCCC's 22 contests, McGinnis would score a career-best 35 points in a win against Coffeyville on March 17th and grab a career-high 15 rebounds in a home loss to Cowley just four days prior. Recording 10 double-doubles on the year, McGinnis would eclipse the 20-point mark on 13 different occasions and score 30 or more points twice. The 35-point outing is the 15th most in a single-game at Cloud County while the 448 total points this season ranks 30th on the Cloud County single-season charts. 

Cox would have a strong finish to the season for the T-Birds, starting the final 12 games of the year while making 14 total starts and 19 appearances for Cloud County. The KJCCC leader in steals at 3.3 per game, Cox would also average 11.7 points per contest which ranked 16th among KJCCC players this season. A career-night for Cox would come on March 29th on the road against Allen County Community College as the Brooklyn, New York native would finish just a single-point shy of tying her career-high set back on March 3rd against Independence while also tying a school-record with 12 steals against the Red Devils. Reaching double-figure points in 10 of the final 12 games of the year, Cox would reach double figures in 12 contests during her lone season at CCCC.
