The Salina Adult Education Center will have a sign up window for ESL/GED/College Prep Skill Building Classes Feb. 8 – 26.
Orientation will be held the week of March 8.
Currently, classes are being held remotely. Remote adult education classes with SAEC entail students learning from their home environment with live instruction from SAEC instructors.
Classes are available morning or evening and attended by students two days a week. Students will also have required out of class assignments to enhance learning, that are built for adult students who are working jobs, parenting or handling other life commitments. Planning for a few hours a week is helpful for SAEC students to complete those assignments.
GED and College Skill Building classes focus on math, reading, writing and employment readiness. ESL classes focus on English language acquisition including speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Onsite classes should resume at the SAEC location as Salina County COVID-19 numbers start to diminish. Those classes will also be two days a week, morning or evening. Keep in contact with SAEC staff for more information on when on site classes resume.
Director of Adult Education Kelly Mobray encourages adults who need services to make sure the home environment is ready for them to be in class. Support with childcare is a critical aspect to think about as well as having a laptop and strong internet to attend live classes. Mobray wants those considering SAEC classes to know that the staff can definitely help students achieve their academic goals in order to be ready for college classes or obtain a better job.
GED and College Skill Builders should visit www.305adulteducation.com and complete the forms under the ENROLLMENT tab during the sign up window. SAEC staff will reach out to them once all forms are received.
ESL students need to visit or call the main site at 309.4660. The center is located at 2620 Centennial Road. This is on the south side of the Salina Area Tech College campus.
Mobray can be reached for further information or questions at 309.4660 or [email protected].
