ROCKWELL, Iowa - A Salina man was arrested for allegedly stealing a BMW in northern Iowa, and pickup stolen from a Saline County residence was left at the scene.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning that Michael Monroe, 65, of rural Saline County, reported that sometime between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 7:27 a.m. Saturday, someone stole his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado from his residence in the 1600 block of E. Stimmel Road. The pickup was valued at $20,000.

On Saturday afternoon, the sheriff's office received a call from the Rockwell (Iowa) Police Department that the Silverado had been located at the scene of the theft of a BMW. Shortly after the BMW was stolen, Rockwell police apprehended Jason Buster, 36, of Salina, and recovered the BMW, Soldan said.

According to Soldan, Buster is known to Monroe and a motorcycle Buster was known to have ridden was left at Monroe's residence when the pickup was stolen.

Soldan said that the sheriff's office will not be able to extradite Buster until Rockville has completed its court case against Buster.
