Kansas Wesleyan Women's Soccer ended the regular season with a 2-0 shutout victory over the Avila University Eagles on Saturday at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.
The victory locks the Coyotes in as the No. 3 seed in the KCAC Women's Soccer Tournament which begins on Wednesday with quarterfinal match-ups at the home site of the higher seeded team.
KWU will host Saint Mary on Wednesday at JRI Stadium. Kickoff time will be finalized by Monday at the latest.
The teams played a relatively even match in the first half, but it was the Coyotes who struck in the 23rd minute. Emma Gervy sent one home for the Coyotes off an assist by Victoria Poon.
Just moments into the second half, the Coyotes scored again. Minaya Winchester served a corner kick into the box and Rylie Moreno-Rojas was able to score it and give the Coyotes a 2-0 lead in the 47th minute.
Avila had a couple of late chances at goals but were stopped by Wesleyan keeper Isabella Galvan.
KWU outshot Avila 11-6 in the match. Moreno-Rojas had five shots for the Coyotes. Galvan recorded five saves in goal.
