Three teen boys and a 12-year-old girl were arrested in connection to multiple incidents over the weekend.
Officers were first sent to Bike Tek, 660 S. Ohio Street, at 3:45 a.m. Saturday for the report of people banging on windows. Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning that a witness told police of seeing three people banging on windows.
Officers found that both glass doors had been hit multiple times, but entry was not made. Total damage to the three-foot by six-foot glass in the doors was estimated at $900, he said.
Shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, Josiah Moore, 20, of Lindsborg, reported to police that his 2006 Ford Taurus had been stolen from the parking lot at 1007 Johnstown. The car, valued at $2,500 was stolen sometime between 6-8 p.m. Saturday. Moore had left the keys under the car console, Forrester said.
During that same time, in the same parking lot, someone burgled a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox belonging to Jennifer Worrell, 44, of Salina. Worrell told police that she thought the car was locked, however there were no signs of forced entry. A black and green backpack was stolen from the vehicle, Forrester said.
Then, at 1:37 a.m. on Sunday, officers were sent to Smokes for Less, 1805 S. Ninth Street, for an alarm. When they arrived they found the front door glass shattered, but still intact, Forrester said. A rock was on the ground in front of the door. Damage was estimated at $575.
At 2:30 a.m. Sunday, an officer driving by noticed someone had completely broken out the glass of the front door at Kwik Shop, 2003 S. Ohio Street. A rock was found near the door. Forrester said 10 packs of Game Leaf Cigarillos, valued at $1.50 each, were stolen. Damage to the door was estimated at $2,000.
Forrester said that Sunday evening, four friends were riding in a car with a 17-year-old girl. The four started bragging about the crimes they had committed.
"She was responsible and brought them to the jail," Forrester said of the 17-year-old girl.
After an investigation, the four -- a 12-year-old girl, two 14-year-old boys, and a 13-year-old boy -- were arrested on the following requested charges.
12-year-old girl: damage to property and attempted burglary
14-year-old boy: two counts of burglary, theft, vehicle burglary
The other 14-year-old boy and the 13-year-old boy: damage to property, attempted burglary, two counts of burglary, theft, vehicle burglary
The car was recovered near Oakdale Park and returned to its owner, Forrester said.
