REPUBLIC COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 8a.m. Friday in Republic County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2021 GMC Terrain driven by Amber Cherney, 22, Cuba, Kan., was southbound on 260 Road just north of Shady Road.
The driver swerved and the SUV entered the east ditch. It struck a field entrance, became airborne, landed on the south side of the field entrance and struck the field side embankment.
The SUV spun 180 degrees, struck a barbed wire fence and came to rest up against the barbed wire fence on its wheels.
EMS transported Cherney to the Republic County Hospital in Belleville. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
