Juan (82) passed away at home after a long illness in Salina, Kansas.

Preceded in death by Mother Carmen, Father Joe, Brother P.C. Torres, Sister Dominga, Sister Delores, Sister Juanita

Survivors include his Loving Wife of 34 years, Janice Torres;  Sister, Jenoveva Downey (Torres); Sister, Cecilia Morrison (Torres); Son, Ronald Torres of Leavenworth, Kansas; Son, Donald Torres of  St. Elmo, Illinois; Daughter, Carmen Padron (Torres) of Emporia, Kansas; Daughter Yvonne Miranda (Torres) of Homestead, Florida; Son by marriage, Darreld Toothman of Newton, Kansas;  Daughter by marriage Shelly McEnroe of North Port, Florida. Many nieces and nephews. He had fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Juan was born and raised in Salina, Kansas.  He graduated from Salina Central High School in 1961.  His first job was as a caddy at the Salina Country Club. A nickname given to him at the golf club was “Walkie-Talkie”.  He was a truck driver most of his career.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marines Corp from 1961 to 1981. Juan was a hard worker, proud retired Marine and loving Husband, Father, Grand Father and Great Grand Father. He gave back to the community with hosting Mexican American Golf tournaments. He loved his neighbors as family. He was passionate about the game of golf. He enjoyed cooking for his family. His favorite thing to do was spoiling all the grandchildren. He always befriended those in need.

Juan’s wishes were to be cremated.

 A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel, 1920 East Crawford Street Salina, Kansas 67401.

He will be honored and greatly missed.
