May 4, 1932 - November 16, 2021

Helen Irene Urban, age 89, died November 16, 2021 in Clay Center, Kansas. She was born in Clay County, KS to Harry and Ruth (Boughton) Craig on May 4, 1932. Helen was raised in Clay Center and was a graduate of Clay Center High School in 1951.

She married Darrell Urban on January 19, 1951, he preceded her in death on March 26, 2007.

Helen worked as a nursing assistant at the Clay County Hospital until she and her husband moved to Overland Park, KS. She worked for Shawnee Mission Medical Center for many years. Darrell and Helen moved back to Clay Center after retirement in the early 90s.

Helen loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and camping. Helen was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she volunteered for the altar guild and vacation Bible school. She was also a member of  the women's auxiliary.

In addition to her husband, Helen is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Vernon, Willis, and Donald Craig; and sisters Mary Johnson and Dorothy Urban.

Daughter: Barbara Bartling of Lawrence, KS

Daughter: Kay (Roger) Osthoff of Clay Center, KS

Brother: Lauren Craig of Clay Center, KS

Grandchildren: Jeff (Lindsay) Miller, and Amanda Miller and fiance Dakota

Great-grandchildren: Sawyer and Mateo

Graveside services: Monday, November 29, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, KS

Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS

Visitation: Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
