
It's time to pick a name for Rolling Hills Zoo's rhino calf, and you can help! From the Rolling Hills Zoo Facebook page:
You have asked about the name of our new rhino calf, and now the time has come for you to help choose his new name.
The selection has been narrowed down to the following six names by the RHZ staff. Now, tell us which name you think should be his name by CLICKING ON THE LINK BELOW (Name suggestions or selection in the comments below will not be included in the tally). You only have six days to enter your selection – VOTING ENDS AT MIDNIGHT FEBRUARY 7TH. So don’t delay!
The following are the names to choose from along with their meaning:
Augustus - means "great, magnificent". Nicknames are Auggie or Gus.
Hank - means “Ruler of the Home”.
Masego - is a Tswana name meaning “blessings”.
Jabari - from Swahili meaning “brave”.
Panya – from African-Swahili roots, it means “mouse”; and because the rhino calf makes a “squeaking” sound like a mouse.
Humphrey - means “giant peace”; also because of the hump on his neck, and after Kansas City Chief’s Creed Humphrey.
