Kenwood Cove Aquatic Park in Salina has reportedly closed temporarily.
According to the City of Salina Parks and Rec Department, this action was announced on May 27, 2026 effective immediately following a hazardous materials (hazmat) incident identified within the facility.
This announcement happened just after its first day of opening on May 26.
The department stated, out of an abundance of caution and to protect the health and safety of guests and staff, the waterpark will be closed while appropriate emergency response protocols, environmental assessments, and remediation procedures are completed.
Local emergency responders are actively working to assess the situation and ensure the facility is safe before reopening.
At this time:
· The facility is closed to all guests and staff until further notice.
· All scheduled programs and public swim at the waterpark are canceled until the facility is safe to reopen.
· Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
It is anticipated the water park will open on the morning of Thursday, May 28 for water walking.
