Sharon Elaine Bartel, 76, of Mcpherson, Kansas, passed away at 9:10 p.m., Friday, March 4th, 2022 at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas.
Sharon was born in Newton, Kansas on February 15, 1946, a daughter of Edna Marie (Ensz) and Henry William Goossen.
Sharon attended and graduated Hillsboro High School in 1964. She then attended and graduated from Bethel College, North Newton, Kansas in 1968.
She was a member of First Mennonite Church in McPherson.
Sharon was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Through the years Sharon worked as a teacher for the McPherson Public School System until she retired in 2008.
Sharon enjoyed reading, puzzles, knitting and crocheting, family vacations and family get togethers and spending time with her friends.
Sharon E. Goossen was united in marriage to Robert D. Bartel on August 24, 1968 in Hillsboro, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in North Newton, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, two sons and two daughters, Shaun, Sheri, Shannon, and Sheldon.
She is survived by her children Shaun Bartel and his wife Debra of Newton, Kansas, Sheri Lepard and her husband Alan of Sylvania, Ohio, Shannon Bartel of Newton, Kansas and Sheldon Bartel and his wife Spring of McPherson, Kansas.
She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Sarah Bartel, Megan Bartel, Nick Lepard, Markus Lepard, Haylen Bartel, Jaxson Bartel and Xander Bartel.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Robert "Bob" Bartel.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the First Mennonite Church, McPherson, Kansas .
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Mennonite Church, McPherson, Kansas.
Private family burial will be at Johannestal Cemetery, Hillsboro, Kansas a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Roosevelt Elementary School and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeal Home, 222 W. Euclid, McPherson, Kansas 67460.
