Area American Legion Riders are planning a flag line in honor of former U.S. Senator Bob Dole later this afternoon.

Dole's casket and family are scheduled to fly into the Salina Regional Airport late this afternoon, where they will be received by a Kansas delegation led by Governor Laura Kelly. The Dole motorcade then will leave the airport and travel to Russell, where a memorial service is scheduled for Saturday.

"We will man a flag line along each side of Arnold Avenue beginning at the corner of Arnold Court and Arnold Avenue. We do have some flags to loan. Bring one if you have one," Stan Britt, area director for the American Legion Riders, told Salina Post this morning.

Britt said those wishing to participate in the flag line are asked to be in place by 3:45 p.m. Friday. The flight is scheduled to arrive at the airport between 4:45-5 p.m., according to persons responsible for organizing Dole's final trip home to Kansas.

The motorcade will pass by the flag line on its way to Russell.
