Wanted Salina man arrested after attempt to flee from police

A 20-year-old Salina man with active warrants was arrested after attempting to flee from police Tuesday afternoon.

Officers observed William Donahue, Jr., in a silver Toyota Camry in front of a residence in the 100 block of South Third Street, at approximately 2 p.m. Tuesday, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning. Knowing that Donahue had multiple active warrants from Saline County District Court and Salina Municipal Court, the officers attempted to contact Donahue.

As they approached, Donahue drove the Camry through the driveway of 117 South Third Street, striking a 1967 Chevrolet pickup and a 2003 Buick LeSabre, causing approximately $2500 in damage to the two vehicles, Forrester noted. Donahue then climbed out of the driver side window and fled on foot through the backyard of the residence, he added.

According to Forrester, officers caught Donhue just east of Burger King, 418 East Iron Avenue, where he was taken into custody.

Forrester reported that Donahue was arrested on the following active warrants and requested charges.

Aggravated escape from custody (Saline County)
