Expo center bids, American Rescue Plan Act funds on county agenda

Expo center site work bid awards and American Rescue Plan Act funds are among the items on the Saline County Commission agenda for Tuesday.

About the meeting

Saline County Commission is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash Street. The meetings also can be viewed on Saline County’s YouTube channel:

Agenda items

Commissioners are scheduled to consider awarding bids for demolition and site earthwork, installation of concrete and paving, electrical work, landscaping, and overall project management. The total cost for the project would be $387,325.

Commissioners also are scheduled to consider the first two projects for Phase 1 of the county's expenditure of American Rescue Plan Act funds. Those projects are as follows, according to information from the county commission meeting packet.

Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Grants: The $500,000 allocated for this category is proposed to be expended through accepting applications from water and wastewater providers such as cities and special districts for grants in amounts up to $50,000.

Public Health Response Needs: County staff is proposing that up to $32,500 of the $126,488 allocated for this category be used to provide an incentive of $100 to each county employee who provides proof of COVID-19 vaccination to human resources. All vaccinated employees, regardless of their vaccination dates, would be eligible. Additionally, all unvaccinated employees would have one month to get vaccinated. Staff also is recommending that the county be reimbursed for the cost of emergency paid sick leave for COVID-19 for the period of March 3 to Sept. 30.
